Mr. Labetti is a managing director for Sedgwick Inc. with responsibility in supporting our global development. Working in concert with our international teams Joe assists in demonstrating the scope of Sedgwick services, our “Caring Counts” culture and our core expectation of exceeding our client expectations.
Joe has more than 34 years of experience in the risk management field. He joined Sedgwick James in 1997, providing oversight for the risk control consulting practice in North America. In 1999, he transitioned to Sedgwick Claims Management Services, and led initiatives within corporate program management, consulting, international business, the development of the company’s on-shoring initiative in mid-America and our middle market business segment (Business America).
Joe began his career as a safety engineer in 1986. Prior to joining Sedgwick, he held various positions in the risk consulting practice for Travelers/Aetna Insurance Company with his final responsibility for delivering unbundled loss reduction strategies to US businesses along with the development of a strategic consulting partnership with Tokio Marine Management.
Mr. Labetti earned a Master of Science in business management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Bachelor of Engineering and Technology in mechanical engineering from the State University College in Buffalo, New York. He is a chartered property and casualty underwriter, holds an associate in risk management (ARM) designation and was a certified safety professional until retiring that designation in 2001.

Eric Malterre has a wealth of international experience, including over nearly 20 years in (Re)insurance and broker leadership roles across various territories in Africa, Asia and Europe. He has overseen profit and loss management, green-field projects, strategic organizational growth initiatives and the design, negotiation and implementation of various service models and distribution partnerships across the globe.
At Sedgwick, he is responsible for overseeing client services outside of The Americas, implementing Sedgwick’s client service strategy globally, identifying and developing new market opportunities and supporting the continued growth of Sedgwick’s business.
Prior to his career in insurance, Eric was a Captain in the French Army and took part to overseas operations. He holds an MBA from Chicago Booth School of Business and graduated from HEC Business School and the Military Academy of Saint-Cyr.

His previous roles have included facilitating the placement of business for a global insurer in territories including Morocco, Kenya, the Ivory coast and Saudi Arabia; working as an operations manager for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in Zimbabwe, Liberia, Algeria, Syria and the Lebanon; and most recently he was the head of international partnerships for an insurer managing relationships across many territories including Egypt and South Africa. Evans has specialized in forensic accounting since 2000 and speaks English, Afrikaans and Greek fluently. He has handled assignments of various scopes and sizes for lawyers and insurers in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, South America and the United States of America.
Evans has been instructed as an expert witness for claimants and defendants and as a single joint expert. He has experience of giving evidence in Arbitration and to the United Nations Compensation Commission.
Evans has prepared and participated in seminars to clients and colleagues on various topics including business interruption and fraud investigations. He participated in the drafting of the methodology adopted by the United Nations Compensation Commission in the measurement of commercial damages arising from the first Gulf war.
