Typhoon Chan-hom is targeted to hit Japan by the end of this week, with forecasts calling for heavy rainfall up to 100-200 millimeters near where the storm tracks in southern Japan. This can increase the risk for flooding and mudslides in the region. Strong wind gusts along Japan’s southern coast may lead to downed trees and power lines, localized structural damage and power outages as Chan-hom moves through.
