CAT response services: Laura now expected to strike as a category 4 hurricane

Laura, now a category 3 hurricane with 125 mph winds, is expected to continue strengthening over the Gulf of Mexico into a category 4 hurricane as it heads for the Texas-Louisiana border. Its catastrophic winds could bring life-threatening storm surge along the coast, which could penetrate as much as 30 miles inland in southwest Louisiana. Laura is expected to also bring inland flood risk as far north as Arkansas or southern Missouri as well as isolated tornados. Widespread power outages, downed trees and structural damage are expected. More than 600,000 residents have evacuated. Both Louisiana and Mississippi declared states of emergency.
