Noul, also known as Typhoon No. 5, made landfall in Vietnam on Friday, triggering heavy rain in the central part of the country, downing trees and damaging hundreds of homes. The local weather agency downgraded the storm to a low pressure system, though warned up to 250 millimeters of rain could fall in parts of central Vietnam, potentially triggering floods and landslides. The storm extends its reach to Thailand, where up to 50 provinces, including Bangkok, are expected to receive heavy rainfall for the duration of the weekend.
