Sedgwick names Micheon Balmer senior vice president of pooling operations

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Sept. 3, 2020 - Sedgwick, a leading global provider of technology-enabled risk, benefits and integrated business solutions, has appointed Micheon Balmer a senior vice president of pooling operations.

In her new role, Balmer will bring together Sedgwick’s risk pooling service operations across the U.S., enabling the organization’s experts to better leverage their unique experiences and technology resources for the benefit of the many pools it serves. Her deep understanding of the complexities in serving public entity pools, knowledge of challenges facing this unique sector in the current environment, and collaborative working relationships with Sedgwick’s pooling team nationwide will all serve as the foundation for a strong launchpad into her new role.

“Given that Micheon has two decades of experience in this space and strong, lasting relationships with our clients, appointing her to this new leadership role was an easy call to make,” said Jody Moses, managing director of public entities at Sedgwick. “Micheon’s longstanding experience and ability to continually drive improvement in operations and client service will bolster Sedgwick’s standing as a leader in the pool administration services space.”

Balmer previously held the position of director of pool operations at Sedgwick, overseeing servicing teams in Sacramento, California, and Austin, Texas. She has served this industry for the past 20 years as a leading expert in pool operations. In addition to her new national role, Balmer will also continue to lead the service team for the Texas Water Conservation Risk Management Fund.

“Pools are facing many unique challenges, but they also have a number of opportunities for growth,” Balmer said. “At Sedgwick, we are uniquely positioned to serve these pools through a combination of deep industry expertise, unparalleled service and cutting-edge technology. I’m excited to be leading the charge for Sedgwick and look forward to continuing to serve our clients with the best resources available in the industry.”

John Brockschmidt, also a senior vice president of pooling at Sedgwick, will continue to drive strategic insights for the benefit of clients. “I look forward to continuing to work with Micheon; she will provide additional depth and expertise to our pooling leadership team,” he said. “As our team grows, her expanded role will further our ability to deliver premier pool administration services.”

More than 4,000 public entities trust Sedgwick to manage their pools, ensuring each has a clear direction through annual goals, timelines, budgets and other initiatives. Sedgwick’s broad array of services addresses all potential exposures—even emerging ones like the COVID-19 pandemic. Sedgwick also manages everyday administration so pool members can focus on serving the public.
