Record-breaking rainfall led to major flooding and several mudslides in British Columbia, causing a province-wide state of emergency.

Devastating floods washed away homes, left farms under water, and damaged highways. Hundreds of people in the Lower Mainland were left stranded or cut off from essential services and thousands were evacuated from their homes in southern B.C., including Merritt and Princeton. The state of emergency is in effect for 14 days to help the government get rail and roadways back up and in operation.
