Mr. Nummer’s background spans over 26 years of fire and explosion investigation related experience and 31 years in the fire service. He has conducted over 1500 investigations, which included residential structures, commercial and industrial structures, large scale losses, and has investigated numerous vehicle fires. Mr. Nummer has interacted with local, state and federal agencies which include Chicago Fire Department Office of Fire Investigations (OFI), The Illinois State Fire Marshal-Arson Division, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Fire Arms (BATF). Mr. Nummer has been accepted as an expert witness and provided court testimony in both criminal and civil cases. He has also consulted on product subrogation and services liability resulting from accidental and incendiary fires.
Mr. Nummer is a Certified Instructor and is on the list of accepted speakers/instructors for the International Association of Arson Investigators. He is also a Field Instructor for the University of Illinois Fire Service Institute. He has taught classes for various law enforcement agencies and arson task forces around the country including Illinois, Wisconsin, New York, New Jersey and Washington. In addition to presentations for firefighters and law enforcement, he is a frequent speaker for various insurance companies and insurance organizations covering topics such as arson investigation and subrogation & liability issues arising from fire and/or explosion incidents.
