One of the greatest challenges facing the risk management and insurance industry is attracting and retaining talent. Despite generous growth opportunities, flexibility in scheduling, and increasing technology advancements, industry services provided and positions offered continue to be misunderstood. What’s more is this is happening at a time when a large percentage of the workforce is aging and a big gap is knowledge is widening. In order for the industry to be sustainable over the long-term, it is imperative that each of us learn to tell a compelling narrative about the role risk management and insurance plays in supporting commerce, the opportunity it affords to offer assistance and compassion at a time when needed most, and the attractive development and compensation opportunities that can be achieved. This session will provide a comprehensive look at some of the foundational issues companies must address when it comes to talent including a comparison of competing industry opportunities, some of the biggest concerns among CEOs, strategies to attract young staff, and effective hiring and molding practices.
