An intense storm has swept through the town of Newcastle in northern KwaZulu-Natal bringing torrential rain, large hail and damaging winds. Residents are urged to remain vigilant, avoid flooded areas and follow all instructions from emergency personnel. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and encourage you to reach out if you need support.
The result so far has been widespread flooding, infrastructure damage and a significant emergency response effort. Streets have been submerged in water and local services are stretched as the town faces one of its most severe weather events. In response, disaster management teams have been sent to assess the damage and support affected communities.
