The rains have caused numerous victims and damage in several areas of Spain and particularly in the Valencia region, where emergency services are working to attend to all those affected.
In some places more than 400 litres per square metre have accumulated in a few hours, causing severe flooding throughout the region. The water is causing significant damage to buildings and infrastructure, more than 150,000 people have been affected without electricity supply and many businesses have been forced to close.
Alerts continue to be issued in several communities, and the authorities are advising against travelling and urging extreme caution. Extensive local and regional emergency operations are working around the clock to support those affected.
Sedgwick would like to express our solidarity with the victims. We have activated our disaster protocol and are ready to respond to the affected areas as soon as they are accessible. In difficult times, our priority is to provide the necessary assistance so that each of our customers can resume their activities as soon as possible.
