Communities across the Midwest and South are recovering from a wave of tornadoes and severe weather that struck over the weekend. Kentucky and Missouri were the hardest hit. A tornado ripped through hundreds of homes in southeastern Kentucky on Friday night, destroying entire neighborhoods. Another tornado struck St. Louis on Friday, bringing winds of up to 150 mph and causing an estimated $1 billion in damages to nearly 5,000 buildings. At least 10 states were hit by tornadoes this weekend.
The National Weather Service is predicting more severe weather and instances of flash flooding starting today. Heavy rain is expected to reach from the northern Plains to Texas.
