Tropical Storm Arthur — the first named storm of the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season — made landfall in Texas on Wednesday afternoon, bringing heavy rain and life-threatening flooding across the Southeast.

Heavy rainfall is expected to last through Friday, with some areas forecast to get up to 20 inches. Flash flooding will be the primary risk as Arthur moves eastward into already saturated areas like southern Mississippi, Alabama and the Florida Panhandle.

Though the system is weakening, strong wind gusts and the potential for tornadoes will continue to create hazardous conditions throughout the region until this weekend.
