Clinical consultation

When a workplace injury occurs, our clinical consultation/nurse triage solution ensures employees receive the right care quickly. Our registered nurses are available 365 days a year, 24 hours a day and coverage is provided for all time zones. Our nurses evaluate the employee’s symptoms and recommend and coordinate appropriate medical care including self-care or provider referrals (in-person and telemedicine visits). Care recommendations are based on best-in-class guidelines for triaging medical conditions. For referrals, providers associated with the highest quality treatment outcomes are selected using our five-star provider benchmarking and search tool.

Sedgwick’s clinical consultation/nurse triage service includes a time of injury assessment from medical professionals who are familiar with occupational injuries. Real-time translation is available to ensure accurate injury documentation and communication of medical recommendations.

Crisis care

One call to our crisis care hotline provides access to a crisis care nurse who will assess the situation, including the needs of the injured employees, their families, affected coworkers and employer, and deploy the appropriate resources including mental health counselors, field case managers, physician advisors and medical equipment experts. Our program also includes access to our international case management team that can connect employees with medical care anywhere in the world. Through our large network, we can quickly identify a provider, coordinate medical evaluations, and arrange transportation, emergency medical evacuations and repatriations.

When employers call our crisis care hotline, a specially trained nurse is there to ensure their employees and others who are impacted get the care they need.
