October 2, 2025
We’re closely monitoring Storm Amy, the first named storm of the 2025/26 season, which is forecast to bring very strong winds and heavy rainfall to large parts of the UK and Ireland from tomorrow (Friday, 3 October).
While there’s still some uncertainty around its exact track, we’re expecting northern and western regions to be the most affected, with winds potentially reaching 80mph. In addition, significant rainfall is likely, especially across western Scotland where totals could exceed 30-50mm in just hours which raises the risk of flooding, surface water and difficult driving conditions.
This combination of strong winds and saturated ground also increases the likelihood of fallen trees and debris which could further disrupt transport and power supplies. The Met Office has therefore issued weather warnings highlighting the potential for widespread disruption to transport, outdoor activities and essential services.
With the situation evolving rapidly, we’re actively monitoring updates and have contingency plans in place. As always, our teams are on standby to provide support and ensure continuity of service for you and your customers as conditions develop.
