The Philippines has experienced violent winds and intense rain whilst Taiwan has been impacted by rain and high seas as Typhoon Ragasa sweeps across the region. Hong Kong, southern Guangdong, and Vietnam are now braced for a period of extreme weather as the system tracks north. Forecasters warn that this is the strongest storm globally this year, and the first super typhoon (a category 5 equivalent) of the 2025 Pacific season.
The system is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds to the area, which follows a recent bout of record-breaking rainfall which has already tested Hong Kong’s flood defences. Local authorities are urging businesses and residents to review their contingency plans and stay alert for official updates – please stay safe and prepared.
