Director – Marine Chemistry
Adam Jackson is a Director of Marine Chemistry at Sedgwick Global Specialty, having worked as a Consultant Chemist and Surveyor within the Marine industry for 15 years. During this time, he has attended onboard vessels, at laboratories and at Expert meetings, on behalf of clients from across the cargo custody transfer chain (P&I, Shipowners, Charterers, Cargo Interests, Underwriters, Legal, etc.), acting as an onsite Expert, assessing and reporting on cargo quality / quantity claims and other similar related matters. The full scope of such cases can involve investigating the initiating incident onboard or at the load / discharge terminal either in person or via document review, organizing and witnessing surveys, sampling and laboratory testing, through to the preparation of Expert reports and potentially acting as an Expert Witness during legal proceedings.
Throughout his time as a Consultant Chemist, Adam has been instructed on hundreds of potentially high value cargo claim incidents involving a large variety of bulk liquid cargoes (crude and refined) including crude oil, refined petroleum products, chemical products, petrochemical products, gas products (LNG, LPG, butadiene, etc.), vegetable oils, bitumen and a number of other speciality, lower volume / high value chemical products. He has also been involved in other specialist investigations such as engine breakdown / forensic fuel investigations, pollution cases, terminal investigations and shipboard surveys, as well assisting with chemistry related matters involving food, mineral or bulk solid cargoes.
Adam graduated from Cardiff University in 2007 with an MChem Hons and also has experience in a variety of other industries including quality assurance roles at an adhesive and polymer manufacturer and a clinical nutrition supplier. He also undertook a research and development role at a specialist coatings manufacturer, as well as a Regulatory Chemistry role within the Lubricant sector.
