David Boghurst

David leads Sedgwick’s Marine Global Specialty team, driving strategy and delivering solutions across complex marine risks worldwide. He began his career as a commissioning engineer, managing pre-delivery projects for new yachts, before moving to sea and serving aboard superyachts as an officer and later as master. In these roles, he navigated remote cruising destinations worldwide and oversaw major maintenance periods at some of the world’s largest shipyards.
In 2012, David transitioned ashore and earned a Diploma in Marine Surveying from Lloyd’s Maritime Academy. He joined a leading global adjusting firm in London as an adjuster, expanding his expertise in marine claims and technical operations. His career progressed into global leadership roles, including Global Operations Manager for Marine and Aviation, before becoming Global Managing Director for Marine.
David holds a degree in Maritime Business and Law, is a full Member of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), and is a Registered Marine Technologist (RMarTech).
