We create customized return to work programs to meet each client’s needs. Our experts focus on the work environment and the injured employee’s functional abilities rather than limitations. Key solutions include early return to work intervention for non-complex medical claims and alternatives such as transitional work placement and vocational services. Our return to work specialists collaborate with treating providers and help employees and clients understand restrictions, durations and modified or light duty jobs. We also provide additional solutions to support the return to work process, such as evaluating existing return to work policies and reviewing functional job descriptions to identify opportunities for accommodations.

Transitional work placement

When an injured employee is released to modified duty by a physician, but the employer has no opportunities to accommodate the request, transitional work placement offers a creative solution. The program provides injured employees with temporary work at a not-for-profit organization in their community. The employee can contribute to society in a meaningful way, working within their restrictions, and the employer is able to see a reduction in overall lost time, medical costs and recovery time.

Vocational services

Sedgwick provides in person and virtual vocational services to help employees injured on the job to return to work or find suitable positions with other employers. Our experienced colleagues offer a wide range of services from vocational evaluations, career exploration and computer training to job placement and development programs.
