Storm Goretti is the first named and significant storm of 2026. While its primary impact will be felt across northern France, parts of England and Wales are forecast to experience severe conditions between Thursday evening and Friday morning.

Current alerts indicate strong winds, heavy snowfall and the potential for ice and flooding, with multiple yellow warnings already in place. Here’s what we know:

Snowfall: 5-10cm expected widely, with up to 20cm possible on higher grounds.

Wind: Gusts of 50-60mph across much of the UK, with coastal areas — particularly in the southwest — seeing gusts up to 70mph.

Additional risks: Ice and localised flooding may further impact travel and infrastructure.

These conditions are likely to cause significant disruption to customers, both at home and in business environments.

As always we’ll continue to monitor the situation closely and provide any updates as necessary.
