Severe weather slams the Pacific Northwest

Severe weather continues for northern California and the Pacific Northwest. It started earlier this week with a strong storm system called a bomb cyclone that brought hurricane-force winds, toppling trees and power lines, and causing hundreds of thousands to be without power. The cyclone then combined with an atmospheric river to unleash life-threatening rainfall, snow and flooding. Northern California could see 16 inches of rainfall, and mountain areas like the Cascades already have more than a foot of snow.

The National Weather Service is monitoring another storm that’s expected to move toward the Northwest coast on Friday, bringing another round of heavy winds, rain and snow.
