Hawaii prepares for Hurricane Lowell 

Hawaii is bracing for dangerous weather this weekend as Hurricane Lowell moves closer to the island chain.

While Lowell is currently tracking westward away from Hawaii, forecasters expect the storm to turn north over the weekend. Lowell is forecast to be a Category 3 hurricane at its closest approach, bringing strong winds, heavy rainfall, coastal flooding and high surf across the state. 

Officials are urging residents to prepare supplies now as power and water outages could last for several days or even weeks after the system passes.
