Richard Cray

Richard has extensive global experience across the maritime industry, having worked as a surveyor on pleasure craft, superyachts, cargo ships, commercial vessels, and Ministry of Defence assets. He specialises in risk assessments, valuations, damage inspections, claims investigations, often supporting high-value or complex matters including cargo losses, personal injury and mechanical failure.
Richard has particular expertise in superyachts, new builds, wind farm vessels and all aspects of yacht and small craft. A lifelong sailor and advocate for industry education, he has authored twelve marine distance learning modules and acts as a course director. His practical insight, regulatory knowledge, and analytical approach make him a trusted advisor across technical, compliance, and commercial matters.
