David has extensive experience in salvage engineering, offshore lifting and transport, and vessel structural design. He began his career with Shanghai Salvage Company, where he spent eight years working on salvage operations involving a wide range of vessel types, including the Sewol casualty, and supporting structural engineering work such as the modification of a floating dry dock. He later worked as technology manager on a cruise research project with CSSC Cruise Technology Development Co., Ltd., and subsequently as a project manager for an unmanned surface vessel (USV) design project.
David’s offshore experience includes stability and lashing calculations for transporting a sunken vessel on a heavy transport vessel (HTV) and rigging design and calculations for lifting foundations on a wind power transport and installation project. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from Dalian University of Technology and is certified as a Senior Engineer of Salvage by the Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China.
