George Gao

George has experience both at sea and ashore, with a focus on ship repair and marine surveying. After three years at sea as a second engineer, he moved to a leading shipyard in northern China as a ship repair manager, overseeing major vessel repairs and supporting cost accounting, settlement negotiations, and contract bidding. From 2007 to 2025, he worked as a senior marine surveyor with a global maritime services group headquartered in London, supporting insurers, P&I clubs, and shipowners across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. He is frequently engaged on complex casualties, providing early-stage repair cost estimates and reviewing claims documentation, drawing on deep knowledge of China’s ship repair market.
George holds a degree in marine engineering from Dalian Maritime University and is a registered ship surveyor with the Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China.
