Coastal storm causes flash flooding in NYC

A coastal storm unleashed several inches of rain on the New York City Tri-State area Thursday night into Friday morning, causing standing vehicles, road closures, property damage and subway suspensions.

As of Friday morning, there were reports of up to 6 inches of rain in isolated areas, with 4 inches in Central Park. Additional rainfall could bring total accumulation to nearly a foot by early Saturday. A state of emergency has been issued.
