Southern Mexico continues to recover from catastrophic rains, flash flooding and mudslides brought on by Hurricane John last week. John first made landfall as a Category 3 hurricane. It dissipated but reformed a couple days later, eventually regaining hurricane strength and making its second landfall last Friday.
Acapulco, which was also impacted by Hurricane Otis last fall, was among the hardest areas hit. It received a year’s worth of rain in a matter of days, with some residents wading through water up to their shoulders.
