Hurricane Milton is headed toward Florida’s west coast and is expected to make landfall late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. The storm is projected to hit somewhere between Tampa Bay and Sarasota, bringing storm surges of 9 feet or greater. Its effects will be felt well beyond the point of landfall. Fifteen counties and over 7.2 million people are under mandatory evacuation orders as Florida braces for hurricane-force winds, up to 16 inches of rain, flooding and the threat of tornadoes.
