The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a tropical wave near Cuba that it expects will develop into a named tropical storm before threatening areas along the Gulf of Mexico, likely between Florida and Louisiana. The storm has the potential to bring heavy rainfalls, gusty winds and localized flooding. The west coast of Florida could be impacted as early as Saturday and into next week.
