The National Hurricane Center is monitoring two areas in the Atlantic Ocean with the potential to develop into tropical storms. One area is several hundred miles off the southeast coast of the U.S. and moving westward. It has a 40% chance of formation within the next week.
The other area is a tropical wave over the far eastern Atlantic. It is moving westward and has a 50% chance of becoming a cyclone in the next seven days.
Meanwhile, there are two active tropical storms that do not pose potential risk to land. Dexter formed over the weekend and continues to move farther out into the Atlantic Ocean. Henriette formed on Monday in the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of Central America, and continues to move away from land.
