Severe storms moved across the Midwest and Southern Plains on Tuesday, placing more than 10 million people under tornado warnings and causing widespread damage across the regions.
Confirmed tornadoes were reported in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma and Texas, along with heavy rain and destructive hail as large as grapefruits in some areas. Strong winds downed trees and power lines, making travel hazardous and leaving more than 12,000 customers without electricity.
Flood warnings are in effect along rivers in parts of Indiana and Illinois, with 18 counties in Indiana remaining under a tornado watch through midday Wednesday.
