Hurricane Ian made landfall on Florida’s southwestern coast yesterday as one of the most powerful storms in U.S. history.

A massive Category 4 hurricane, it lashed southwest Florida with catastrophic 150 mph winds and record-breaking 6-feet storm surges. The storm tore apart homes and buildings, washed out bridges, and damaged power infrastructure in some areas. As of early this morning, more than 2.5 million homes and businesses across Florida remain without power.

Ian was downgraded to a tropical storm this morning, but is still dumping record amounts of rain and is forecasted to bring catastrophic flooding across Florida before likely hitting parts of Georgia and South Carolina.
