Over the past 24 hours, public authorities in Brazil have issued several warnings regarding storms that are expected to bring heavy rains and cyclones to the southeast region — mainly Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. According to satellite analyses, these storms have the potential to be the worst that have occurred in the region since 2013.
Today, March 22, will be an optional workday in Rio de Janeiro; banks, schools and other public places will remain closed to keep everyone safe in their homes.
