Major earthquake strikes off Taiwan’s east coast

A major 7.4 magnitude earthquake has been recorded off the east coast of Taiwan, with an epicentre located 18km south of the city of Hualien. Tsunami warnings have been triggered with residents of coastal areas advised to evacuate immediately to higher ground.
