Taiwan is continuing its recovery efforts following Typhoon Bavi which brought strong winds, heavy rainfall and localised flooding across several regions.
Reports indicate that the storm has caused over 100 minor injuries and prompted authorities to issue red landslide alerts in 45 locations. As a precautionary measure, residents considered vulnerable to flooding, landslides and debris flows were also evacuated.
Critical infrastructure has also been affected, including power outages affecting approximately 234,000 households at its peak, but a swift response from utility providers saw electricity restored to 96% of customers within a short period. There are also reports of fallen trees, domestic and commercial property damage which has led to temporary school and workplace closures in some areas.
Thanks to extensive preparedness measures, coordinated emergency response and public cooperation, Taiwan has successfully limited the overall impact of the event.
