E-waste

Sedgwick is committed to reducing our e-waste tonnage and its harmful toxins through our recovery, repair and reuse programs, and partnerships with environmentally certified recycling companies.*

We repurpose computers and other equipment whenever possible

This has helped us reduce IT equipment e-waste tonnage. If equipment can be reissued to colleagues, we place it back in our Sedgwick inventory for reuse. We also donate refurbished machines to nonprofit in the U.S. so they can be placed with families in need.

*e-stewards and R2 certified (globally recognized standards for electronics recycling and reuse)

We also held an e-waste drive for colleagues to donate their personal laptops, monitors and other equipment they were no longer using. Through this drive and our other e-waste efforts, we were able to remarket or recycle over 120,000 pounds of equipment in 2023

Equipment disposal
For equipment that must be disposed of, we partner with environmentally certified vendors to dispose of it in a safe and sustainable way.

Purchasing EPEAT-registered products

When we need to purchase new equipment, we follow guidelines from the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT). This tool is backed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and provides guidance on procuring environmentally sustainable electronic products. Over 73% of all Sedgwick computers meet the EPEAT’s gold rating – signifying products that meet the most demanding set of criteria for sustainability leadership in electronics – surpassing our goal of 60% in 2023.
