Physical impacts of weather-related incidents — operations

We’re committed to minimizing physical and environmental impacts of weather-related incidents.

We have an entire team of experts who specialize in the environmental industry and help restore property damaged by natural disasters and mitigate losses on property. We continue to increase our footprint by investing in our staffing solutions network. We’ve added over 18,000 independent contractors to our network over the last four years – 5,000 in 2023 alone — which allows us to engage local resources to respond to catastrophes and surge events to serve our clients more effectively.

Restoration cases

In 2023, our UK team completed nearly 700 restoration cases, where contents were restored rather than sent to a landfill. By adopting ClimateWise Sustainable Claims Guidance in the UK, which provides global standards for sustainable claims management, we’ve recorded savings in our ISO 14001 certified environmental management system of 269TCO²e on fire cases and 560TCO²e on wet peril cases in 2023.

Minimizing impacts

In addition to assisting our clients in overcoming environmental events impacting their facilities, we also monitor the risks to our own. All Sedgwick properties are required to have a business continuity plan that is reviewed and updated annually by risk management.  We’ve also implemented a global physical and environmental security policy, and our compliance with it is assessed through routine internal and third-party audits.
