Business ethics
For more than 50 years, Sedgwick has conducted its business by doing the right thing.
We start by ensuring that our 30,000+ global colleagues are well-versed in our code of conduct and other policies and understand the importance and the expectation that they abide by them at all times.
Sedgwick committees
At Sedgwick, we have multiple committees that meet regularly to proactively address emerging topics and identify education for the organization: the Sedgwick Compliance Committee (SCC), Anti-Fraud Committee, Risk Committee and Regional Data Protection Forums. The members of these committees determine and document our corporate policies, procedures, service expectations, auditing, training, systems and controls. They also ensure the necessary resources and tools are available to colleagues through our company intranet, theCurrent.
Corporate Policies
Through the work of these committees in 2023, we reviewed and updated our comprehensive suite of corporate policies and published them on our company intranet, where they can be translated in each colleague’s preferred language for increased accessibility. These policies include:
- Code of conduct and ethics.
- Anti-corruption policy.
- Anti-money laundering policy.
- Anti-slavery and human trafficking policy.
- Conflict of interest policy.
- Hospitality and gifts policy.
- Whistleblowing policy.
- Sanctions policy.
Colleague Education and Training
We enhanced our annual compliance training package, “The Right Thing,” to incorporate a new format and feedback from business leaders across the organization. We launched it to our global colleagues in 2023 and continue to emphasize the importance of privacy, confidentiality, security and ethical standards in our everyday work. Included in the training was an annual disclosure questionnaire and an attestation to confirm each colleague read, understood and accepted the code of conduct. In 2023, 99% of our global colleagues completed the training.
Colleague ethics line
We expect all colleagues, at every level of the organization, to abide by the ethical standards outlined in our code of conduct. If something goes against our standards, we want to hear about it. In 2023, we promoted our ethics line through our annual compliance training package and disclosure questionnaire. Colleagues can report concerns about activity that is or might be unethical, illegal, fraudulent, dishonest or questionable through our ethics line platform or through a call center. A third party manages the ethics line, enabling anonymous reporting, if desired. In addition, Sedgwick’s clients and consumers can report concerns via our online chat at Sedgwick.com.
