Community engagement

At Sedgwick, corporate citizenship is important to us.

We’ve had a longtime commitment to supporting our colleagues and communities around the world. We continue to expand the ways in which we engage our colleagues and support our global communities.

Our giving pillars

Last year, we refreshed our corporate giving strategy, where we take care of our colleagues and communities by focusing our giving efforts around four key pillars that align with our core values: education, well-being, social services and sustainability. Our efforts continued in 2023, as we partnered with more than 234 charities whose goals align with our pillars. In alignment with our sustainability pillar, we donated to One Tree Planted, an organization that restores forests and protects habitats for wildlife and planted more than 24,000 new trees around the world. We also supported the rejuvenation of Tom Lee Park, located near our headquarter office in Memphis, Tennessee. In alignment with our social services pillar, we supported Action Against Hunger. Sedgwick donated to this impactful organization to support its work in preventing and treating hunger globally and help create a world where every person is well-nourished.

For our education pillar, we contributed to Save the Children, a global leader in child education, and supplied new books to libraries in the U.S. and book banks in rural communities across the globe. We also engaged colleagues in our colleague resource groups to help us direct our corporate giving dollars to more nonprofits that support education globally, and as a result of colleague voting, we gave to Step Up Women’s Network, Year Up, GLSEN, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund/Payne Global Initiative and the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities – to name a few. Sedgwick contributes to numerous other charitable organizations globally that are of strategic importance to our colleagues, clients and communities.

Season of giving

Each year around the holiday season, we support an organization that is particularly meaningful to our company, colleagues and clients. In 2023, we partnered with Feeding America and The Global FoodBanking NetworkFeeding America is the largest hunger relief organization in the United States. They work to end hunger by providing food and support to millions of people. Working in over 47 countries, The Global FoodBanking Network’s mission is to advance and unite food banks to nourish the world’s hungry. Colleagues were invited to join us by teaming up with people in their community to support hunger-relief efforts by giving back to a local food pantry, helping a neighbor in need of a meal, starting a food drive or gathering around the dinner table and share a memorable meal with others. We also encouraged them to share their efforts on one of Sedgwick’s social media channels, and for every photo shared, we donated to Feeding America and The Global FoodBanking Network.

Community champions

In 2023, we enhanced our community champions program, where we celebrate and amplify the efforts of individual colleagues across the organization who are taking action in their immediate communities to give back and make an impact. Colleagues and their causes are featured on our ongoing wall of community champions and are considered for a charitable donation from Sedgwick. On International Day of Charity (Sept. 5) in 2023, global colleagues voted to select four outstanding community champions whose cause each received a donation from Sedgwick. The donation will help our community champions’ efforts go even further and make a greater impact. Overall, Sedgwick colleagues volunteered their own time at over 150 organizations around the globe, showing how caring counts in their local communities. Learn how our colleagues are championing causes they’re passionate about in their communities in a recent article in edge, Sedgwick’s publication.

Sedgwick Family Fund

In 2023, we expanded global awareness for the Sedgwick Family Fund, which demonstrates our unwavering commitment to taking care of our people by making assistance grants available to colleagues in need. Through an application process handled by an external grant expert, the Sedgwick Family Fund provides grants to qualifying members of our Sedgwick family who are experiencing a hardship. The fund is fueled by a combination of company donations and colleague contributions, giving colleagues the opportunity to show one another how caring counts during the times of greatest need. Since the launch of the Sedgwick Family Fund in 2022, we’ve awarded grants to over 242 colleaguesOf the Sedgwick grant recipients who elected to share their outcomes with us, over 85% say they regained their financial stability due to the grant.
