Supplier diversity

We understand the value of partnership with diverse businesses.

Sedgwick’s supplier diversity mission is to strategically develop sustainable relationships and promote business opportunities with small, small disadvantaged or HUBZone enterprises, or businesses owned by women, LGBTQ+, veterans, service-disabled veterans or minorities.

Supplier engagement efforts

Over the last four years, we have continued to increase the overall number of diverse suppliers and have more than doubled our annual diverse spend.

To increase our supplier engagement efforts and ensure we meet subcontracting goals, we’ve developed tools internally to proactively identify diverse suppliers. We work closely with our sourcing team to ensure we’re providing optimal opportunities for diverse businesses to participate as partners and suppliers of our goods and services.

We’ve also increased our visibility by attending supplier diversity events and partnering with organizations in our communities. We’ve historically partnered with the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) and in 2023 became a corporate member of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). We participated in the 2023 NMSDC Conference and Exchange as an exhibitor focusing on engaging with minority-owned suppliers and cultivating relationships with Sedgwick.

By engaging supplier diversity as a value-added focus, Sedgwick expands business and obtains quality products and services while ensuring that our suppliers adequately reflect our diverse client base and the communities in which we live and work.

Success story

In 2023, our subsidiary EFI Global was working on a state contract for environmental services that required us to meet diverse business participation goals. Our supplier diversity team worked with EFI Global to set up an invoice sharing and tracking mechanism that provides access to supplier diversity information regarding any external resources – including laboratories and subcontracting vendors – used as part of our work under the state contact. We have easy access to this information on a quarterly basis, which has helped us, and our client, meet required subcontracting goals.
