SYDNEY, 8 March 2022 – Sedgwick, a leading global provider of technology-enabled risk, benefits and integrated business solutions, welcomes Shane O’Dea as head of strategic partnerships and programs in workers’ compensation for its Australia operations.

O’Dea will have responsibility for cultivating Sedgwick’s profile and presence in Australia by establishing strategic partnerships that deliver tangible value and outcomes. His appointment is part of a broader effort by Sedgwick to enhance its productivity and benefits service offerings in international markets.

O’Dea has vast experience in the workers’ compensation and personal injury sector, having spent the past 25 years in various board and executive leadership roles in the sector. He has a highly sophisticated understanding of personal injury and social insurance schemes and is deeply passionate about a holistic, “people-first” approach case management that supports employee recovery and sustainable return to work.

Sedgwick is a recognized leader in the American absence management and workers’ compensation space. The expansion of services in Australia is aligned with Sedgwick’s recent acquisition of Direct Health Solutions (DHS), a leading specialist provider of employer-based telehealth solutions. In addition to leveraging DHS’s experience in the market, Sedgwick in Australia will be developing international injury management, employee productivity and workers’ compensation offerings with the support of its global resources.

“Shane will be pivotal in building our industry relationships and programs to support our entry and progression into the Australian workers’ compensation environment,” said Tracey Harris, Sedgwick chief operating officer in Australia. “In addition to establishing and growing our strategic partnerships, he will leverage his extensive industry experience and subject matter expertise to provide support, advice and insights to help us optimize performance, regulatory compliance and service delivery in this space.”

“Sedgwick’s commitment to expanding global benefits solutions inspires me to engage and forge long-lasting partnerships that will contribute to and further enhance Australia’s workers’ compensation offering,” O’Dea said. “I feel privileged to be joining the Sedgwick team.”
