Independent building and construction experts

When property damage occurs, the various steps involved in obtaining repair estimates and technical advice can be overwhelming. Having a partner managing the process can help control costs and improve the outcome.

Since 2010, Sedgwick has assisted with building concerns on over 80,000 properties in Australia.

Solutions to meet your needs

Our in-house consultants, engineers and quantity surveyors have experience working with architects, building contractors and fire investigators. We also offer the flexibility to work with our own panel or the client’s preferred experts. Our team provides trusted, accurate replacement cost estimates, and serves as an independent resource during the investigation and rebuild phase.

We work with builders on our clients’ behalf to eliminate waste and improve efficiency and profitability. Our qualified experts are trained in assessing each case on its individual merits, enabling them to truly understand each client’s unique needs.

Innovative thinking

As consultants, we need to see things from all sides while recommending what we believe is the best approach to effectively manage the repairs. This requires our team’s insight and technical expertise in the decisionmaking process. For example, they may need to determine if incurring additional upfront costs will save money in the long run and help a customer return home quicker, or if a damaged commercial property can be reconfigured to maintain a basic level of operation while the repairs are completed. This is the level of engagement and experience that sets Sedgwick apart.

Technology-enabled

We have adopted new, innovative methods to complete site inspections. Our technology-enabled inspections allow us to record site data electronically in a digital twin — a 3D replica of a space or object that can be stored overtime to monitor changes within a building. The virtual reality (VR) digital twin can be shared with all stakeholders, including insurers, experts and owners interstate or internationally to understand potential issues within a building and make informed decisions.

We have also partnered with an artificial intelligence (AI) building inspections provider to launch the first digitalised commercial building façade survey and assessment system in the Australian market. The system combines sophisticated imaging and positional technology with an autonomous electro-mechanical device allowing a building to be scanned to meet compliance and regulatory requirements along with monitoring the condition and safety of the building envelope.
