TECHNICAL & SPECIAL RISKS | PORTS AND TERMINALS
Specialist claims knowledge within reach of every major port and rail freight hub on Earth
Drawing on experience based expertise in port infrastructure, equipment, specialist facilities, fender systems, breakwaters, piers and marinas, we know how to handle even the most complex losses.

Ports operate in a fast-moving commercial environment, where damage and subsequent repair delays can have significant financial implications for shippers, carriers and associated support industries. With a truly global network of adjusters, we’re uniquely positioned to provide a swift, coordinated response to a range of ports and terminals events — wherever and whenever they may occur. Our technical and special risks team comprises claim experts with decades of experience managing major losses around the world.
Comprehensive solutions
Following a ports and terminals loss event, an experienced member of our international team — which spans 80 countries on six continents — promptly visits the site to conduct an initial survey. Then, with oversight from our London hub, we enlist the appropriate experts to develop a timely and cost-effective solution and report the right information to the correct markets. If needed, we can also engage expert consultants to undertake site-specific investigation, including wave height analysis, and preparing detailed condition reports on load handling equipment.
In addition to identifying damage and relevant repair methods, we investigate deeper causation issues and whether design criteria were either met and/or appropriate for the location. Our experts can also advise on exposure to future damage caused by climatic changes, as well as conduct risk surveys for policy renewals.
